Speaker Bio
Doug Jones AO is a leading independent international commercial and investor-state arbitrator, an International Judge of the Singapore International Commercial Court, and a former international transactional and disputes project lawyer with more than 40 years’ experience. Based in chambers in Sydney and Toronto and serving as a door tenant at Atkin Chambers in London, he has participated in over 200 arbitrations across more than 30 jurisdictions, involving construction, infrastructure, energy, commodities, intellectual property, joint ventures and investor-state disputes under numerous major institutional and ad hoc rules, with claims valued in the billions of US dollars.

Doug holds professorial appointments at Queen Mary University of London and the University of Melbourne, has published and presented extensively, and has held senior roles including President of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration. He was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2012 for distinguished service to law, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution, and was elected an Honorary Bencher of Gray’s Inn in 2020.
